Sylvie Retailleau received the Agrégation de Physique Appliquée degree from the Ecole Normale Supérieure de Cachan, Cachan, France, in 1988 and the Ph.D. degree from the University of Paris-Sud, Orsay, France, in 1992.
She was with the Institut d’Electronique Fondamentale, Orsay, as an Assistant Professor in 1992 and as a Professor in 2001. Since 2011, she has been the Dean of the Faculty of Sciences, University of Paris-Sud.
Her research activity was first focused on the theoretical study of IV–IV heterojunction device operation, including heterojunction bipolar transistor, metal–oxide–semiconductor FET, and modulation-doped FET. She has developed techniques of transient analysis using the Monte Carlo simulation. Her major current interest is in the area of quantum effects in sub-0.1-μm FETs, in quantum dot-based single-electron devices, and in carbon-nanotube FETs.
