Arnaud Bournel was born in Antony, France, in 1972. He received the Agrégation de Physique Appliquée degree from the Ecole Normale Supérieure de Cachan in 1995, and the Doctorat en Sciences degree from the University of Paris-Sud in 1999. He joined the University of Paris-Sud as assistant professor in 1999 and as a professor in 2007. He has developed his research activity at Institut d’Electronique Fondamentale (IEF), Orsay, France. His research activity is focused on advanced silicon based field effect transistors, transport in carbon-based nanostructures and spintronics in semiconductor structures. He is the head for Univ. Paris-Sud of a Master program in electrical and information engineering, member of the steering committees of laboratories of excellence “NanoSaclay” and “LaSIPS” (Laboratory for Systems and engineering of Paris Saclay) and adjunct of the dean of education of the Orsay Faculty of Science, University Paris-Sud, in charge of master programs. He gives lectures on electronics for telecommunications, physics of semiconductor devices and nanoelectronics.
